Talks with Famous People from History, Part Three: Benjamin Franklin

Paris Portingale continues his talks with famous people from history. Paris meets Benjamin Franklin.

I said to Benjamin Franklin, “So, what are you working on at the moment?”

He said, “Inventing electricity.”

“How is it going?”

“Good. I’ve got a key attached to this kite and I’m going to fly it out in that thunderstorm.”

“It’s pelting down, you’re going to get pretty wet.”

“No, I’m going to stand under a tree with some corrugated iron.”

So, I was visiting him in the hospital a couple of days later and I said, “You took a bit of a pounding there, Mr. Franklin, how are you feeling?”

“Woozy, mainly.”

“So, did you discover it?”

“So, that’s what I was doing?”

Paris Portingale

Paris Portingale is a writer and dog owner. While having a somewhat indifferent attitude towards abstemious self-restraint, he does follow the safe guidelines of four standard drinks a day, although his standards are a great deal higher than most, certainly the medical profession’s. Paris is visited often in the night by God, and the meetings are anything but pleasant.
