Extremist Movie Debate: Spider-Man: Homecoming

In Extremist Movie Debate, Ethan and Unpaid Intern Jeff’s true feelings about the movie do not matter. They flip a coin to decide who loves it and who hates it. They then debate it on the fly. This episode? Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Oftentimes, hilarity ensues (or just offensive arguments). As always, SPOILERS AHEAD.

Spider-Man: Homecoming [official trailer]

Could Spider-Man: Homecoming be the triumphant return of the John Hughes-esque coming-of-age teen comedy? Ethan argues this is a movie about Peter Parker before it’s about Spider-Man and that creates a human tension within the narrative. Unpaid Intern Jeff believes Peter Parker is an unbearable narcissistic teen, therefore making Spider-Man an unbearable hero, which makes the movie, well, unbearable. Andrew of Pants Pending Studios guest moderates this week.
