In Extremist Movie Debate, Ethan and Joe’s true feelings about the movie do not matter. They flip a coin to decide who loves it and who hates it. They then debate it on the fly. This episode? War for the Planet of the Apes.
Oftentimes, hilarity ensues (or just offensive arguments). As always, SPOILERS AHEAD.
War for the Planet of the Apes [official trailer]
People have been saying that with the release of War for the Planet of the Apes it completes one of the greatest trilogies in cinematic history. Joe agrees with the statement, believing each movie has its own separate theme, but once you add each movie together it creates a wonderful overarching narrative. He also says this is not necessarily a war in the simplest definition, but rather one that explores Caesar’s inner demons. Ethan argues that this movie, along with the others in the trilogy, are nothing more than churched-up blockbusters. They don’t say anything new, but repackage old ideas with monkeys in an attempt to fool the audience. Unpaid Intern Jeff moderates.
