In Extremist Movie Debate, Alex and Joe’s true feelings about the movie do not matter. They flip a coin to decide who loves it and who hates it. They then debate it on the fly. This episode? The Dark Tower.
Oftentimes, hilarity ensues (or just offensive arguments). As always, SPOILERS AHEAD.
The Dark Tower [official trailer]
It has been over a decade of Stephen King fans anxiously awaiting the arrival of The Dark Tower adaptation. The now-released movie takes bits and moments from seven of the eight books in the series, spanning nearly four decades of writing, and delivers a tight 95-minute feature. Joe thinks condensing elements of the story down is the ideal way to introduce new audience members to The Dark Tower saga because they manage to make it easily accessible and streamlined. Alex, a Dark Tower purist, argues that this method of delivering a Dark Tower movie does the franchise and the fans a disservice because it neuters all the characters and motivations, thus creating a shallow and forgettable movie. Ethan moderates.
