In Extremist Movie Debate, a coin flip decides who loves it and who hates it. They then debate it on the fly. This episode? The Post
Oftentimes, hilarity ensues (or just offensive arguments). As always, SPOILERS AHEAD.
The Post [official trailer]
To start the Oscar season, Ethan and Aaron tackle The Post, the newest, award-grabbiest movie starring America’s resident mom and dad, Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks, and directed by none other than acclaimed sci-fi geek Steven Spielberg (we’re happy he squeezed this in after Ready Player One). Ethan concedes that it’s easy to see why this movie is put in the category that reveres journalists with integrity, but argues that it brings nothing new to the table. It’s a “should they or shouldn’t they” and they eventually do, solely because they nagged each other enough. Aaron thinks the movie is interesting because it’s taking a look at newspapers and the news right before it started becoming profitable, and this shows a standard that the journalists of today should strive for. Unpaid Intern Jeff moderates and appreciates how civil Aaron is as a debater.
